The following is a project that will require you to use and develop your communication, financial,
and analytical skills. The purpose of this presentation is to give students the opportunity to :
1. | Summarize and apply concepts covered in class discussions and text readings.
2. | Analyze the financial health of a company by using financial techniques like ratio analysis, time
value of money formulas, capital budgeting, industry analysis, etc.
3. | Develop creative strategies and offer suggestions to management for future growth.
During week eight, each student will post a presentation about the financial health of a publicly traded corporation. Your presentation should include 6 to 10 PowerPoint slides. |
Presentation Format : | ||||||||
* | Introduction: A brief overview of the firm including company history, products offered, competition.
* | Financial Analysis :
* Evaluate past performance by analyzing financial statements and present two years of ratio analysis |
|||||||
* Choose either Net Present Value or Break-Even Point and explain how this technique
may help the company achieve better financial performance. For example, the company may need to invest in
new machinery and capital budgeting analysis would be used. You may decide that the company needs a new
product line and break-even analysis is required. You should develop numerical examples and apply the
appropriate financial techniques.
* | Management Plan: Prepare a bullet point list offering suggestions to management for improving the company’s future financial performance.
Discuss long term growth. What are the key issues management should address? This section is mainly
qualitative rather than quantitative and should be based on the student’s opinion.
