Select a U.S. Supreme Court juvenile court case since 1960, which has influenced policy and the development of the juvenile court. There are many cases listed in the course textbook which can be used.
Write a 275-500 word APA formatted paper with: a brief summary of the case and the ruling, in which you include the following:
- Give the case name, citation, date of decision, and a very brief statement of what the case stands for;
- Very briefly explain the factual situation surrounding the case;
- Explain the court’s ruling.
- How did the case change juvenile law, and why?
Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines, and the How to Write a Formal/APA Paper document and the How to Structure APA Headings document, both of which are found in the Syllabus under the Week 1 tab. Use at least 2 “academic resources” which you cite and reference in the paper. Consider also looking at www.oyez.org and www.scotusblog.com to better understand the case and how to briefly describe it. This assignment isn’t about all the interesting facts of a case. You only need to state the facts which are relevant to the ruling, so keep the word count down on the case facts
