Interview Project: Interview a Manager or Leader of a Sports Complex, Gym, Company, or Team
Reflect on how globalization and commercialization have impacted a selected sport. How has the sport grown over the years and become popular? Write down your answers in one to two paragraphs. Then, you are to formulate 10 interview questions and find a person whom you could interview in your area. Your interview can be done in person, over the phone, or online (e.g., email, chat, text messaging). You should find out how they lead individuals in their complex, gym, company, and/or team. Discuss what it takes to rise in a sports-related profession
and the issues and leadership challenges they face. Also, include questions regarding the manager’s perspective on how commercialization has changed their sport and the impact of media on it. Provide a summary of your interviewee’s responses and a reflection about how you thought the interview went.
After the interview and considering the responses you received, are you now more for or against the commercialization of sports? Support your position with evidence (i.e., give an example with a citation) and a well-reasoned argument.
Your assignment should be at least two pages in length. Include a title page and at least two references. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.
If you cannot find a sports-related leader in your area to interview, research a sports manger or coach using the CSU Online Library or another reputable source online to find an interview with a sports professional (e.g., a transcript of the interview, an audio recording, or a video recording would suffice). Next, research and provide a summary of how globalization and commercialization has impacted that sport.
Write a summary at least two pages in length about their leadership philosophy and what it took for them to advance in their field. Include a least two references. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment. APA formatting, however, is not necessary.
