Essay Assignment 1 for History 2010—American Wars of Independence (75 points)Spring 2018 HIST 2010

You are to write a 5-7 paragraph paper using two primary sources from Chapters 4-9, as well as citing specific historical examples from the text and or lecture to support your argument.

Question:

Between 1754 and 1833 what two or three major events, individuals, or ideas most impact us today? In other words, the two or three events, individuals, or ideas you select to support your argument need to be explained in your own language and supported with some evidence from a primary source or sources.

Organization:

1st paragraph—introduce your two or three examples as you make your case for how they have impacted us today. Conclude the paragraph with your argument or thesis statement: “The _______ and the ______were most important in impacting the United States today.”

2nd paragraph—as this is an argumentative paper, you need to acknowledge that some might consider some other event, individual, or idea as the most important. You want to describe the item giving the usual details like who, what, when (context), where, and why it is important but not as important as your other examples. This helps establish an argumentative tone, that you are trying to prove your point, but that you understand there are different ways to view the topic.

3rd paragraph—focus on one of your examples providing the who, what, when (context), where, and why. In that process you want to work in evidence from a primary source or sources for additional support. It is often desirable to directly quote from a source (which you properly cite using MLA format)that you can then provide about a sentence or two of analysis for before wrapping up the paragraph.

4th and maybe 5th paragraph—the same as paragraph 3 with one or two additional examples.

5th, 6th or 7th paragraph—conclude your argument by briefly restating your thesis and making the case for your examples relevance to today.

Sources:

Do not go to the internet or other outside sources beyond the text book for this paper. If you feel it is absolutely necessary, you must get prior instructor approval. When you do quote from the readings, identify the author and page number using MLA format. You will want to have well structured paragraphs with topic sentences that support your thesis.

Some common errors that should be avoided: Refer to individuals first by their full name, and then for subsequent references simply by their last name (unless there are multiple people with the same last name). For instance, none of you should be referring to “Andrew” in the paper. You are not on a first name basis with Andrew Jackson. The exception to this is of course “Solomon,” the brother of Gabriel

Universitywritingservices.com has saved me a lot of time. I was tired of taking the same classes many times over again. As an ESL student, my professors were taking points off of my assignments for my grammar mistakes. It made it very hard to feel encouraged to continue with my studies. Thankful for having found an answer for better grades."

As a working student, I just really don't have the time to write paper after paper and complete assignment after assignment. Working full-time and going to school was nearly impossible until I was able to feel comfortable with the writers on this site. They make me feel secure enough to trust them with my papers. While I'm busy with life, they are busy writing my papers. They always do an outstanding job!

After I ordered a dissertation from your writing service, the first paper that I was given did not met my professor’s demand. I set the paper on revision and the writer made the revision for free meeting all my requirements and I was very satisfied
